GPwSI (Training) in Rheumatology

Hours: 1-2 sessions per week (Negotiable)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated General Practitioner to join our Rheumatology service working as an integral part of our multidisciplinary team. Our team comprises consultants, GPwSIs, junior doctors, nurses and the full complement of allied health professionals providing a wide range of general and subspecialist rheumatology and MSK services to the local population, providing seamless care through multidisciplinary team (MDT) working.

With either a sound knowledge of rheumatological conditions, as well as an interest in general medicine or the motivation to learn and professionally develop these areas while working in a supportive environment, the successful applicant will provide a high standard of clinical care whilst supporting new ways of delivering quality services. As an organisation we have been proactive in developing systems for shared decision making and supporting self-management along with social prescribing and would expect the appointee to actively work supporting this.

Continual professional development is encouraged, and while not a formal requirement for appointment, this post is highly suitable for GPs who may be working towards, or wish to work towards, a higher qualification in rheumatology or musculoskeletal illness.

On completion of their training the post holder will be expected to practice as an autonomous practitioner within the MDT, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and utilising specialised knowledge and skills to plan and deliver care for musculoskeletal presentations to the service.

An ability to work independently, and more importantly, as part of a team, whilst working calmly under pressure is essential.

For more details and an informal discussion, interested parties are encouraged to contact Dr Shelley Grumbridge, Director of Primary Care at PMSKP. Email: shelley.grumbridge@nhs.net
