How do we do the assessment?
There is a team of highly specialised health professionals working in the service. Your referral will be sent to the appropriate health care professional for initial assessment.
This will take approximately 20 - 30 minutes when they will discuss your problem and your general health.
This will be followed by a physical examination, during which you may be required to remove items of clothing. It is therefore advisable to wear sensible undergarments, so that the clinician can carry out an effective assessment.
What next?
After this initial appointment we will discuss with you the most appropriate course of management for your condition. This may involve treatment, further assessment or referral to another relevant health professional.

If this is appropriate you will be required to wait 30 minutes after the injection and you may wish to be accompanied. Following this you will need to rest the affected joint for 48 hours so you may be unable to drive, please therefore arrange alternative transport.
